A Traditional East London Strip Pub
Tom Melody, landlord and licensee since 1986, extends a warm welcome to this traditional East End London strip pub where you will find a friendly atmosphere, a wide range of beers, spirits and soft drinks and, since 1993, the Axe's inimitable striptease dancers.
With its incredible decor of wood panelling, ornate plastered ceiling, numerous brass lamps and red alcoves, Ye Olde Axe is a classic Victorian pub. As a past patron remarked, "the sort of thing Americans would buy and ship out wholesale to Minneapolis".
Although we want our patrons to have an enjoyable time while at Ye Olde Axe, a few house rules are necessary to protect both our customers and our dancers from any unnecessary and embarrassing incidents.
The management reserves the right at all times to refuse admission.
No persons under the age of 18 are allowed on the premises during licensing hours.
No persons other than the dancers or members of staff are permitted on the stage at any time.
Any Person touching the dancers, either on or off the stage, will be ejected from the premises.
No photography, either still or video, is allowed on the premises at any time.
No responsibility is accepted for items lost, stolen or misplaced by customers on the premises.
Finally, please remember that the dancers rely on patrons contributions for their income. Contributions are encouraged.
HOW TO FIND US
From Old Street (Northern Line)
Head along Old Street itself, which runs East from the station. Pass the Holiday Inn Express and Hoxton Street on your left, under a railway bridge, and then cross the road junction into Hackney Road, passing Brown's on your left. Ye Olde Axe is another couple of hundred yards down the road on the left.
From Liverpool Street (Central, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Circle and mainline trains)
From the main concourse, go out the Bishopsgate entrance, on your right as you face the platforms. Turn left, and walk up Bishopsgate. Keep going straight on, and the road becomes Shoreditch High Street; when you pass a church on your right, Brown's is on the corner ahead. Turn right, past the church, and Ye Olde Axe is on the other side of Hackney Road, about 200 yards.
